Greetings my lovely, feral, dark, and bright ones,
This oasis has been an absolute whirlwind of fresh energy, and today brought a completely new wave of clarity about exactly who we are, where we come from, and what we are building under this roof. I am officially incorporating my proud Jersey roots and Ronnie’s upstate New York farm roots right into the fabric of this house and our lives. We are pulling from the ground we came from, stepping out of the shadows, and showing up completely raw and authentic. Watch out world, because we are out here fully!
To fuel our successful day of running around, we stopped for a literal taste of home: a couple of Jersey Mike’s subs. A Super Sub with no onions for me, and a Big Kahuna Cheese Steak for Ronnie. Sometimes you just need that comfort food to remind you of your roots while you’re busy charting a new path.
Our afternoon treasure hunt started at Dollar General, where I went straight for the practical, colorful, and motivational decor muscle. I loaded up on gorgeous, eye-catching home accents to completely transform my space. I scored a vibrant, sunlit yellow round wooden sign that declares “love makes a house a home”, a wavy pink block print block that cheers “YOU GROW GIRL!”, and a cheerful blue flamingo-patterned sign reminding me to “STAND TALL AND stand out”. To round out the motivation, I picked up a classic white framed canvas plaque featuring Monarch butterflies that proclaims “LET YOUR dreams BE YOUR wings”, and an elegant, timeless gold-framed mirror to instantly bring bright light and depth into our space.
I also checked out some incredible new additions for my plant family right here at Dollar General, including a textured grey planter with branch details, a striking, deep-ridged geometric blue and copper vessel, and a gorgeous wrapped purple and white pot. For the kitchen counter, I found an adorable long white ceramic spoon rest stamped with leafy accents that asks “WHATCHA GOT COOKIN’”. When you’re completely clearing out the physical and emotional clutter, you need your surroundings to sing with promise and inspiration.
Next up was Ace Hardware, which turned into an absolute jackpot of a trip. I finally got to see the beautiful 12-piece Corelle “Terracotta Dreams” dinnerware set up close, and its crisp summer-blue scrollwork and warm terracotta accents are exactly what I need to anchor the chicken and rooster theme I envision for my future kitchen redo. To bring a bit of natural simplicity to the washroom, I grabbed a crisp, textured white toothbrush holder decorated with a clean, raised green leafy branch and a wooden base. Even Ronnie got in on the hauls here, picking up an absolute beast of a pocket knife—the Smith & Wesson M&P Night Guard dual-action OTF. It’s got a wicked black-finished Tanto blade with weight-reducing cutouts and a rugged, anodized deep red aluminum handle with a black rubberized grip panel down the middle. Seeing him slide that textured thumb switch forward to snap that blade straight out the front is pure, no-nonsense utility energy. It fits the whole theme of the weekend perfectly: sharp, practical, and heavily protected.
To round out the playful, joyful energy we are letting back into our home, we also brought in an adorable little white axolotl figure with bright green gills, serving as a tiny, smiling reminder to keep things whimsical.
All of these new design ideas are completely spilling over into our future bathroom plans now. I’m dreaming up a total reimagining for the spaces—thinking either a lush botanical aesthetic or a rooted southwestern vibe to honor the desert for the master bath, and maybe a refreshing seascape or a peaceful, sunlit meadow vibe for the hallway bath. Who knows exactly where the design will land, but the creative momentum is entirely alive. Tomorrow is completely dedicated to home stuff, playing in the dirt, and repotting my plants in their beautiful new pots while Ronnie hangs the fresh screens on the patio. Then come Monday, we are heading out to Tombstone for a real adventure, followed by a wide-open Tuesday where who knows… maybe we’ll do absolutely nothing.
The dogs are living their absolute best lives, munching on plain blueberries and staring at the ice cubes in their water bowls like it’s Christmas morning. The scale tried to ruin my vibe earlier by showing a random 1.3-pound fluctuation since last week, but I am way too smart for that short-term nonsense. I’ve been fueling my system with salads, mushroom coffee, and relentless hydration all week. That number is just water weight and muscle inflammation from a literal marathon of heavy lifting and deep cleaning. My body is recalibrating, my mind is completely clear, and tonight I get to sleep in a brand-new bed frame that Ronnie is putting together as we speak.
Because when you know exactly who you are in your own home, you don’t need external systems to give you a pre-packaged box. This week, I sat down and mapped out my foundational worldview, cutting through the mainstream scripts to look at things with straight-up common sense. I don’t fit into the rigid two-party system, and I don’t want to. I stand firmly as a Traditionalist, Right-Leaning Populist Independent.
My compass is driven by simple, unshakeable values: a deep respect for the rule of law, backed law enforcement, and secure borders where people “do it right”. I believe in national self-reliance—taking care of our own citizens, workers, and veterans first before sending billions of tax dollars overseas. I have a massive, “HELL YES” for local food independence, decentralized resource management, and stripping power from corporate monopolies. I demand absolute protection for private property, cash privacy, and free speech, and I believe the traditional family unit is the essential nucleus of a stable culture. I value the dignity of the human workforce, believing tech like AI should be used as a powerful personal co-pilot rather than an excuse for corporations to replace real human jobs.
Above all, my philosophy boils down to an old-school, common-sense rule: Play by the rules, pull your own weight, protect your home, and leave me the hell alone.
The decks are clear, the boundaries are iron-clad, the sunshine is streaming through the windows, and the sanctuary is officially mine again. Tonight, the celebration of this new chapter takes us out into the local world. Ronnie and I are heading out to the Gaslight Theater at 8:30 PM to catch Gnatman. A little local, fun, lighthearted theater is exactly the kind of vibrant, joyful entertainment that fits this new baseline.
The light is back on, the hearth is warm, and the summer belongs to me.
